Mae Jemison - NASA

As a child, she loved science and technology and dreamed of becoming a shuttle astronaut.

Mae Jemison was the first African-American woman to go into space. She traveled with NASA aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavor in 1992. As a Mission Specialist, she spent more than 190 hours in space!

She is now a member of the National Women’s Hall of Fame and the International Space Hall of Fame. She was even the first astronaut to appear on Star Trek! She says her success was achieved through hard work and determination. Great Job!
